Sometimes He Sends 2 Signs

I’ve been battling a combination of writer’s block and busyness over the last few months. In the meantime, I’ve been praying daily about the future of this page—asking God for words to share and praying that it might speak to or encourage someone. Just a little sign of confirmation would be great.

Well, God answered… twice.

Sign 1:

A few weeks ago, I received a text from a former team member whom I’ve always admired. While we don’t get to see each other often, I think of her frequently and am always encouraged by who she is and all that she’s accomplished. In our exchange, she asked if I was still writing. I was honest and told her I’d been struggling with writer’s block and wasn’t sure what to do. She said she hopes I get back to it because she enjoys reading my posts and finds them encouraging.

The next morning during my prayer time, I thought, “Okay God, thanks!”

But I was still busy and didn’t act on it. So, being who He is, God sent another sign.

Sign 2:

I opened my email and found that my dad thought he was sharing something I’d written for my grandma’s funeral with a friend of his—but instead, he sent it to me. So random—she passed five years ago. I couldn’t help but wonder what on earth reminded him of it?

I knew his friend, so I quietly forwarded the message to him, saying I thought my dad had meant to send it to him. His friend replied with this:

"Genessa, however it came to my computer, I'm grateful to have read your 'journal' about your grandma. Well-written. Thoughtful. Respectful. Keep on writing, because such tomes provide family history—especially when the older ones don't have the energy for such internal reflection or the motivation to put it on paper. It's obvious to me that your dad is proud of your ability to bend vocabulary and write deeply. God's best."

That was the moment I realized I need to get myself together and make time for this. It also helped me recognize that there may be things I’ve already written that are worth sharing. So, I’m not sure if this is “cheating” or just a way to ease back into blogging, but here goes.

I hope you enjoy the next post, which I’ll be sharing tomorrow:

"You Want Something to Cry About? A Tribute to Grandma."

P.S. Thank you to my dad for accidentally re-sharing it with me—lol.
